Robert Downey Jr has said that there are no plans for a fourth Iron Man film.

Speculation has been rife over a follow up to Iron Man 3, but star Downey Jr has put all the rumours to bed.

At the Toronto Film Festival, where the Avengers star is promoting his new movie the Judge, he said a sequel is not on the way.

He told Variety: ‘There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.’

No sequel it a bit of a shame seeing how decent the third film was.

On the other hand where the third film ended was the perfect way to wrap up the franchise. We wouldn’t want it to turn into Transformers, now would we?

Tony Stark will next be on the big screen in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is out May next year.

As anticipation builds even further for the Avengers sequel, Marvel have whetted our appetite for the film still further by revealing plot details.

And Iron Man fans won’t be going home disappointed if the newly-released synopsis is anything to go by – since his human alter-ego Tony Stark is set to play a major role in proceedings.

‘When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance,’ the synopsis explains.

‘As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

…and you’ll be seeing quite a bit of this man too (Picture: Zade Rosenthal)

All of which should more than make up for the disappointing lack of a fourth standalone Iron Man film - as confirmed last week by Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron will feature a whole host of Marvel regulars, with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver all putting in an appearance.

Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans are all back for the sequel, with cast newcomers including Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Spader as the villainous Ultron.

Captain America 3: Will Robert Downey Jr reprise Iron Man role to kick-start Civil War storyline?

Robert Downey Jr could be in Captain America 3
Could Iron Man appear in Captain America 3 (Picture: Zade Rosenthal)

The Captain America franchise is shaping up to be the best of all Marvel’s cinematic outings. The latest news is that Captain America 3 may feature Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man.

Iron Man (Tony Stark) going up against his co-Avenger (Steve Rogers) could be a pivotal storyline that will change things up massively for all our Marvel heroes. Variety have reported that the team up in Cap 3 will kick off the Civil War storyline from the comic books.

What is it all about?

This storyline brings the real world firmly to the centre as it deals with the Superhero Registration Act.

This is the US government’s way of forcing anyone with superhero abilities to reveal themselves and their real names and act as a kind of police task force for the authorities.

Hawkeye played, by Jeremy Renner, could already be appearing in Captain America 3
Hawkeye could already be appearing in Captain America 3 (Picture: REX)

It is legislation that is brought in to combat major incidents, like the beating Manhattan took in The Avengers, and give training to various superheroes.

But as nice as that sounds, it definitely has a flip side.

Steve Rogers’ (Captain America) thinks it is a fascist act that will take away the freedom of people with super abilities and the story line does indeed take many dark twists and turns, that eventually culminates in the death of one of the world’s most beloved heroes.

Captain America vs Iron Man

If they go down the civil war route, the casting of Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America 3 makes a lot of sense, as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark massively butt heads in this story arc and are on completely opposite sides of the fence.

As I said above, Rogers is very much against it and Stark is for it and becomes the poster boy for signing up.

This split in opinions leads to all kinds of crazy things happening, including the division of the Avengers.

Captain America 3 would make for a perfect springboard for this event as it will bolster the whole future of the overall Marvel franchise and will lead into many possible story lines, including the introduction of more Avengers.

More for Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr, who  has recently confirmed that there will be no Iron Man 4, has made it clear that despite this, he still wants to feature heavily in other films that are part of the Marvel franchise.

The civil war story line would be the perfect fit for his requirements and with his character stance on the Superhero Registration Act, it could lead to him having a significant role in future Marvel movies as well.

I am excited for them to go down this route as the story which was penned by Mark Millar in the comics is gritty and exciting.

I also really like that Stark will be cast as kind of a villain to Captain America’s hero – depending on your opinion regarding whether the superheroes should be forced to reveal their identities or not.

I for one am firmly against it (go Cap!). This dynamic will be really exciting to watch play out on screen so I am hoping the negotiations don’t fall through at the last hurdle.

Captain America 3: 8 things you need to know about Marvel’s Civil War

Iron Man takes on Captain America in marvel's Civil War

Captain America 3 looks set to focus on the Civil War story line which was featured in the Marvel comics written originally by Mark Millar and pencilled by Steve McNiven.

This story arc is an explosive tale that puts the real world very much in the centre of something that is usually a lot more fantastical.

The main focus is the opposition of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) who both sit on very different sides of the war.

Below are the key things you need to know.

Warning: This contains spoilers if you haven’t already read Marvel’s Civil War

1. The Superhero Registration Act

This act is a piece of legislation that forces people with super abilities to reveal their true names and work for the state as part of a police force. This in turn puts their loved ones, namely their spouses and siblings at risk as well as puts them in an uncompromising position where they are at the mercy of the state.

2. Who thinks it is a good idea?

Well, there are quite a few heroes who think it is a great idea.

Namely, Tony Stark and the Fantastic Four’s Mr Fantastic (though I doubt very much we will see him in the movie or in follow up as he is a no-go area being that he belongs to Twentieth Century Fox). Hank Pym (from the Ant-Man franchise) and Black Widow are also in the ‘for’ camp.

Mr Fantastic from the Fantastic Four
Mr Fantastic from the Fantastic Four is for the Registration Act in Civil War (Picture: Marvel)

They all think that it is the right time for identities to be revealed and that people with super abilities could do with proper training and should be held accountable.

3. Who thinks it is the worst idea ever?

Captain America is strongly against it, as is Falcon and Luke Cage (aka Power Man) and The Punisher, among many others.

They all believe that it is an abuse of their rights and will impede their abilities to actually help people and will also put their loved ones in danger.

4. Things get nasty

As civil war between the heroes breaks out, the Avengers as we know them split and Cap starts leading a group known as the Secret Avengers.

They are still dedicated to stopping crime and super-villains and they continue to pursue this, leaving their enemies tied up or incapacitated for the authorities to deal with, while still operating in the shadows.

Captain America in Civil War
Cap don’t like it (Picture: Marvel)

However, the ‘for’ camp turn their attention to catching and imprisoning superheroes who refuse to sign the Superhero Registration Act by any means necessary.

5. Project 42

Stark and Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic) build a prison in the Negative Zone designed specifically to hold people with super powers.

This does not sit well with a lot of heroes who joined the ‘for’ side (particularly Spider-Man) and it causes them to switch sides and join the resistance led by Rogers.

6. Spider-Man

Spider-Man was initially swayed onto the ‘for’ side by Stark and revealed his identity to the public, even though this was something he kept secret for a long time. Upon finding out about Project 42 he switched camps and started helping Captain America take the ‘for’ camp down.

This is interesting as it is currently rumoured that Marvel and Sony are in talks to share Spider-Man. Seeing Spider-Man appear in a future Marvel release, would be a pretty awesome thing – so I really hope this happens.

7. The death of Captain America

In the civil war story arc Captain America gets assassinated.

Could Captain America 3 be the last film with Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers’? Will this open the way for Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) or the Falcon to take-over the mantle of Captain America?

8. Comic book reboot

The civil war is set to be given a comic book reboot, so while these plot points appeared in the original series, things might significantly change.

8 reasons Robert Downey Jr. is the king of Hollywood

$

Ten years ago, it would have seemed impossible, but today Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

Funny, sexy and with a troubled past, what exactly makes the Iron Man the man he is?

We test his mettle below as his new film The Judge comes out at cinemas…

1. He made the Iron Man a household name

Admit it. If we had asked you ten years ago who the Iron Man was, all of you except the biggest comic fans would have probably assumed we were talking about the children’s book by Ted Hughes.

Now like Spider Man, Superman and the Incredible Hulk, everyone knows. This is in no small part largely down to Downey Jr.’s charismatic performance.

2. He sort of is Tony Stark

No, he isn’t a billionaire inventor with a talking computer who flies around all day, occasionally rescuing Gwyneth Paltrow. But some have claimed his portrayal of the superhero works so well because Downey Jr. reportedly incorporates many aspects of his own personality into the role.

If you include his cameo at the end of 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, he has now played the character five times.

3. Benedict who?

Let’s not forget that it was Downey Jr., Jude Law and director Guy Ritchie who rebooted Sherlock Holmes for the big screen in 2009, not Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

The big screen Sherlock Holmes arrived in 2009, a full year before the BBC version. A sequel subtitled A Game Of Shadows appeared in 2011 and a third film is reportedly on its way.

4. Brilliant actor

It is easy to forget Downey Jr.’s hugely acclaimed performance as Charlie Chaplin in the late Lord Attenborough’s otherwise flawed biopic Chaplin (1992) about the silent screen star.

Downey Jr. still in his twenties, received an Oscar nomination, having learned to play the violin and play tennis left handed for the role. He was nominated again much later for comedy Tropic Thunder.

5. Ups and downs

Remember the flashback sequence in Iron Man 3 in which a pre-Iron Man Tony Stark parties his way into the Millennium? For Downey Jr,. this was actually a desperately difficult period involving serious drug and substance abuse problems.

He was arrested and jailed repeatedly between 1996 and 2001 but has happily made a full recovery. In the light of this, his current huge success is all the more remarkable.

6. He did TV before it was fashionable

These days, many film actors have returned to the small screen. But in 2000, when Robert Downey Jr., joined the cast of Ally McBeal as the main character’s boyfriend, this was still quite rare.

Downey Jr.’s casting briefly revived both his career and the flagging ratings of the show. But his recurring drug problems saw him being suspended at the end of season four. The show itself ended soon after.

7. He’s been in lots of good films

Not every Downey Jr. movie has been a classic, but he’s been hilarious in the likes of Wonder Boys (2000), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Tropic Thunder (2008), Due Date (2010) and Chef (2014) while also excelling in dramatic roles such as1969 (1988), David Fincher’s Zodiac (2007) and The Soloist (2009).

His new film, The Judge looks great as well.

8. He’s old but doesn’t look it

Let’s face it: Robert Downey Jr. has indulged in a fair amount of hard living in his life, even doing hard time. Yet does it show? Not really. At 49, he is older even than our own dear Prime Minister David Cameron and unlike him looks as sexy and dynamic as ever.

He is a great actor and undoubtedly the king of Hollywood today. Long may his reign continue.

Here comes The Judge .(Steve Granitz/WireImage)

The Judge is released in the UK on October 17

Benedict Cumberbatch to play Doctor Strange but who is the Sorcerer Supreme?

$

Doctor Strange: Benedict Cumberbatch will play the Marvel hero
Doctor Strange joins Marvels’ cinematic universe (Picture: Marvel)

With Benedict Cumberbatch in as Doctor Strange the question remains who is this character and why should we be excited?

Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange aka Doctor Strange is a brilliant neurosurgeon with a gigantic ego, at least he was until he got into a car accident that shattered the bones in his hands and ended his surgical career.

Too proud to take on a teaching post he used up all his money searching the world for a cure and became homeless in the process while doing the odd back alley surgery to earn a bit of extra cash (note: shaky hands do not make for great surgeries, but at least they were cheap).

Becoming the Sorcerer Supreme

Still searching for a cure, Strange comes across a hermit in the Himalayas called the Ancient One who is actually the world’s Sorcerer Supreme but he refuses to train him because he doesn’t think Strange is worthy due to his selfish nature.

However, being a nice guy he decides to help Strange by trying to bring his nice side to the surface, this is a total fail, but all is not lost as Strange redeems himself by stopping Baron Mordo (the Ancient One’s disciple), from killing him.

MORE: Benedict Cumberbatch is Marvel’s Doctor Strange: 6 reasons why he is the perfect choice

Impressed with his new found selfless nature, the Ancient One agrees to teach Strange the mystical arts. After he completes his training he returns to New York and takes up residence at the Sanctum Sanctorum where he is assisted by Wong his very handy manservant.

With the death of the Ancient One, Strange becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, but it is not an easy path as his personal demons and selfish ways occasionally come back to haunt him.

Powers

Doctor Strange Will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch
Strange has badass powers (Picture: Marvel)

Described as the mightiest magician in the cosmos, Doctor Strange has a pretty impressive bag of tricks.

Strange draws his magical powers from various entities like: Agamotto, Cyttorak, and the Faltine, he also makes use of some super cool artifacts, such as the Cloak of Levitation which enables him to fly, the Eye of Agamotto whose light is used to negate evil magic, the Book of the Vishanti which contains knowledge of white magic and the Orb of Agamotto which is used as a crystal ball which he uses to perform various magical acts.

Adversaries

His most persistent adversary is Baron Mordo who is a bit like Strange, in that he is a magician, but he has a murderous nature and has no qualms about using black magic. He is especially good at astral projection and uses these powers to take down his foes.

Doctor Strange also goes up against quite a few other supervillains such as Dracula (no intro needed for the fanged one) and Dormammu a dark mystical being who rules over the Dark Dimension.

Best stories

It has been said that Marvel are not going to do an origin tale, but I have not given up hope as Doctor Strange’s origin is one that I think would play out really well. And as he is a Marvel hero whose powers are mystical and not a mutation or side-effect from a toxic substance, his powers could do with some cinematic explaining.

Other stories that would work well on film would be the story line The Oath which saw Strange discovering a miracle panacea which will cure everyone of everything and being targeted by an assassin. It also saw a new and interesting take on the Night Nurse.

Another arc that would work well would be, End Times which saw Strange no longer as the Sorcerer Supreme, but instead fighting the good fight to prove that he is again worthy of the title.

The Eternal Saga is probably one of the ones that would work out best though. At least cinematically, as it is the one where Strange faces off against old foes Baron Modo and Dormammu in the Dark Dimension.

That being said, he also has a great story line where Loki mind controls him and gets him to try and take down Thor, which ends in a very strong alliance between Doctor Strange and Thor against Loki (Thor 3 anyone?).

Doctor Strange is a character that is very human in his foibles and like Iron Man can be a bit of an arrogant ass, but he does have some overwhelmingly great redeeming qualities like his abilities to save his fellow heroes (he once brought Iron Man out of a very bad coma) and the world.

He also has some great powers. I can’t wait to see Benedict Cumberbatch rocking the levitation cloak.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron – 7 things you need to know

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron: The Scarlet Witch
New outfit for Iron Man (Picture: Marvel)

Lots more information on Avengers: Age of Ultron has been released mostly from Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. and it is looking better than ever.

There is a new version of the trailer up and it’s pretty much the best trailer ever, (seriously, how amazing was that Hulkbuster suit? I can’t wait to see Iron Man and Hulk duke it out).

The extension shows the aftermath of a Stark party that has War Machine and the rest of the other Avengers all taking turns to see if they can give Thor’s hammer a lift.

The new trailer and all the latest information has me desperately wishing for a time machine so that it can be April already.

Here are seven tantalising tidbits of information we now know about Avengers: Age of Ultron.

1. Is Captain America worthy of Thor’s Mljolnir?

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron: The Scarlet Witch
Can he wield the hammer? (Picture: Marvel)

Stark gives it a go once normally, once with an Iron Man glove and once with glove and his mate War Machine…turns out he is not worthy (who’d have guessed!) and then Cap gets up and gives it ago and as a nervous Thor looks on, it budges just a smidgen.

Might we get to see Thor’s hammer swinging from Cap’s fist at some point in the movie? I hope so…because, seriously, how cool would that be! (probably not though!).

2. Bruce Banner and Black Widow sitting in a tree…

It is looking fairly likely that the Banner/Black Widow hook-ups will be making the leap from Tumblr fan-fiction to the big screen.

Mark Ruffalo on the set confirmed that it was an important and budding relationship. So you can read into that what you like, but I am thinking they will be getting some smooch time.

3. Banner and Hulk will be working on their relationship

The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Hulk – he’s got some thinking to do (Picture: Marvel)

Bruce Banner and Hulk have a hard time coexisting and this is the movie where they will be working some of their stuff out.

On the subject of who is more dominant  Mark Ruffalo has this to say ‘you have these two identities that really wanna dominate the other, and so, it’s not getting easier to refer one or the other to be the dominant driver.’

4. Banner is Stark’s new roomie (kind of)

Banner will be getting cosy with his science buddy in an apartment of his very own in the Avengers Tower (apparently being lab mates was just not enough).

5. Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is a piece of work

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron: The Scarlet Witch
Don’t mess (Picture: Marvel)

Ruffalo likened the Scarlet Witch to Sid and Nancy (being that she is everyone’s Nancy), which translates as she is going to cause a ton of trouble for all the Avengers and with her powers being unlike anything they have previously faced, it should be really good.

She is going to make them face their worst fears.

6. The Vision is ‘dope’

The origin of Ultron differs slightly in the film to the comics (being that he is Tony Stark’s creation) and the origin of The Vision played by JARVIS voice actor Paul Bettany seems to be differing a little bit as well.

Ruffalo has referred to him as ‘my baby’ and has said that he is ‘so, dope.’ So it doesn’t give much a way, but it is a bit of a hint that maybe they have created The Vision as a way to take down Ultron themselves.

7. Tony Stark’s house parties never end well

Party crasher (Picture: Marvel)

And the one in Avengers 2 will be no exception (basically, Ultron is a party crasher).

Get ready – there are more Marvel films coming (Picture: Marvel)

Marvel’s Phase 3 is exciting stuff. We have another Captain America installment, a few alien heavy movies like Captain Marvel and the Inhumans, and we have possibly the most exciting superhero event ever in the guise of the two part Avengers: Infinity War .

And that is just the tip of the iceberg, below are 9 things that you need to know about Marvel’s Phase 3.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy

The sequel has been moved up from July to May 2017.

May is the best slot for the summer movies and this change will have come about mainly because the first one was such a huge success. Director James Gunn and his entire cast are all set to return and while there is no news of what the story will be, that doesn’t worry me at all.

This film is sure to be a slam dunk of a hit.

2. We have a female led superhero movie

Captain Marvel will be Carol Danvers and this will be the first official female led superhero movie in the MCU.

Danvers is a pretty cool hero. Her super-heroic origin being that her powers come from her human genes being mixed with Kree alien ones (due to her being caught in an explosion of a Kree device).

3. Inhumans

Talking of Kree aliens, the Inhumans are a sub-species of super-powered individuals (a bit like the X-Men) who live in secret on Earth.

Capture25

They are the result of the Kree Empire testing on humans. This is significant as it could very well tie massively into what is going on with the whole Sky storyline on Agents of SHIELD (is she an Inhuman?) as well as working quite closely with the Captain Marvel story.

Release date: November 2 2018

4. Black Panther

Marvel's The Black Panther
Expect the Black Panther on November 3 2017 (Picture: Marvel)

Chadwick Boseman (Get On Up) has been cast as Black Panther and has been given a five picture deal, with the first being Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther was the first black mainstream comic book character, and his stories are a good mix of political and mystical. I can’t wait to see how they mix him into the MCU.

Release date: November 3 2017

5. Thor 3

Thor 3 has been titled Thor: Ragnarok, and while there are no details of what the the story will be, we do know that it will have major implications for the MCU as a whole and that it will take Thor to the ‘next level.’

Thor 3, Thor: Ragnarok
Thor gets another outing this time in Thor: Ragnarok (Picture: Marvel)

But what does that mean? Will Thor be taking a trip to unworthy town and lose his hammer? Or will he finally decide to stop buddying up to his brother (villain) Loki?

Talking of Loki, he is confirmed to return (yay) and what is also confirmed, is that his scepter is an infinity gem (possibly the mind one?).

7. The Hulk and Black Widow

There is still no sign of Hulk or Black Widow getting a solo outing and while this is a shame, there is so much going on in the MCU, I don’t think it is too big of a miss.

8. Captain America

Captain America 3 is officially titled Captain America: Civil War and is released May 6 2016. It is likely to have a shed load of heroes in it, including Iron Man and Black Panther.

Release date: May 6 2016

9. And there’s this…

Just too damn exciting.

Interestingly, They didn’t make any cast announcements for Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange… What could this mean? Is Benedict Cumberbatch still in?

Why Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two could be the best superhero event ever

Capture24

Marvel have announced their Phase 3 and it is incredibly exciting. They are giving us a female led superhero movie (Captain Marvel), they have confirmed the title of Cap 3 (Captain America: Civil War) and that there will be an Inhumans and a Black Panther movie.

But best of all, they have confirmed that the third Avengers movie will be split into two films and that it will be the culmination of all the MCU films that have gone before.

There is so much that is good about this (in fact, I actually can’t think of anything bad).

What is good

The fact that Avengers 3 is two movies is the right call. There is so much story that needs to be covered and characters that need to be included. This is the decision that makes the most sense as it will allow enough time and space to really do the story justice.

It is scheduled for a 2018 and 2019 release which gives plenty more movies within Phase 3 to build up the story so that when Avengers 3 is finally released it will just be solid all out action and excitement.

Another good thing, is that the directors of Captain America:The Winter Soldier and Civil War, Anthony and Joe Russo are rumoured to be in contention for directing Infinity Wars. This would be a great fit as they have more than proved with The Winter Soldier that they are more than up to the task, though it will be sad if Joss Whedon doesn’t get to have another crack at it.

What is awesome

(Picture: Marvel)
(Picture: Marvel)

The story for this will be off the hook. By the time Infinity War rolls around, we will be fully conversational with some of the weirder realms and alien story lines within the Marvel universe.

If the Guardians of the Galaxy was not enough, the sequel to it, along with The Inhumans and Captain Marvel (who will spend a lot of time dealing with the Kree alien race seen in the first Guardians) will be the crash course that will introduce us to the more alien and other-worldly aspects.

This will leave us well and truly primed for the big event that will be our heroes going all out to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin) who will have presumably got his grubby little paws on all of the infinity stones.

Marvel are playing the long game and they are not scrimping on the build-up. Their Phase 1 was good and their Phase 2 has been even better (seriously how good was Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy). So, with that in mind, it would not be too crazy of a leap to imagine that Phase 3 will up the ante even further and be the best phase yet.

What line up of Avengers will we see?

There are a lot of questions around who will be featured as part of the Avengers team by the time Infinity Wars is here. It is entirely possible judging from the trailer and the rumours that the current line up of the Avengers will significantly change by the end of Age of Ultron. And with Cap 3 being confirmed as the civil war event, it kind of seems likely that the version of Cap that we are currently enjoying is not long for the MCU.

I am guessing that with the addition of new characters from the upcoming movies like Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and Black Panther, we will see some new members of The Avengers (but hey, we need as many as we can get to defeat Thanos).

I also think it is likely that Steve Rogers will be killed off and we will have a new Captain America (either Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, or Sam Wilson aka The Falcon). That being said though, maybe he won’t. The MCU is a very different beast from the comic books, so anything can happen really. Roll on Captain America: Civil War so that we can know for sure.

What we can know for sure though, is that this Avengers event is massive. To tie in so many story lines and characters is such a massive feat, but with all the evidence so far, I have full confidence that it will be awesome.

Sleeping bags
Genius (Picture: Selk’bag)

Even wannabe superheroes need to nap sometimes.

Because occasionally, when there’s a choice between fighting crime and snuggling down under the duvet for a little sleep, well, bed wins out.

But now, thanks to Selk’bag, home of the wearable sleeping bag and friend to festival goers everywhere, you can still be appropriately attired even at bedtime.

They’ve created a line of wearable Marvel superhero onesies and they may just have changed bedtime forever.

And, as you’d expect with a superhero suit, they come with all the mod-cons.

There are detachable booties with reinforced soles, dual-front entry zippers, and a thermal collar to keep out the cold— so perfect for round the house, camping and, um, vigilante justice (maybe just stick to camping).

There’s the Spidey suit.

And the Cap’n.

The suits cost $149 (£95) from the Selk’bag website. But, here’s the sad news. Apparently, due to licensing rights, the bags can’t be sold outside of the US. So, you’ll need to befriend someone over there to get you one for Christmas.

Because no one should fight crime on less than eight hours sleep a night, right?

This DIY hoverboard is just what you need to be as cool as Marty McFly

Somebody has made a DIY hoverboard and it. Is. Amazing.

Being able to hover is probably one of the coolest things you can do.

I mean Iron Man and Marty McFfly do it.

Now Ryan Craven has proved it’s possible to make your own.

He calls it Mr Hoverboard.

You can create one too if you have a few quid to spend on four leaf blowers, a shower curtain, some tape and an old water ski as a base.

Craven, from Austin, Texas, told Crave how to make your own with bits and bobs from a DIY shop.

Mr Hoverboard (Picture: Ryan Craven)
Mr Hoverboard (Picture: Ryan Craven)

Sounds like you have to be pretty skilled to put it together though.

Craven said: ‘A skirt fills with air that is released below from strategically placed holes that create a small pocket between Mr Hoverboard and the ground.

The skirt alterations were one of the biggest steps I had to keep repeating as there’s infinite combinations when trying to achieve proper circulation and balance.’

Well, there’s a challenge for the new year.

Take away the CGI and 300: Rise Of An Empire is just a bunch of blokes with no shirts on
Take away the CGI and 300: Rise Of An Empire is just a bunch of blokes with no shirts on

Computer-generated imagery is now so important in the film industry that it is shoe-horned into almost every movie.

CGI is used for tiny things, such as adding or removing objects in the backgrounds of scenes, or it can totally replace actors and sets for entire scenes – sometimes entire movies.

When done correctly, computer animation is breathtaking, and can transport audiences to places they could never normally go.

Done badly, however, and you get (for example) James Bond surfing down a tsunami in Die Another Day.

For some films, such as the ones featured below, CGI is the main star – take away the computer graphics and there’s very little left.

Dealing with danger in Avengers (2012). The danger was added later
This time, the danger is real and it's the actor that was added in later
Explosions were added in The Wolverine (3013), but Hugh Jackman's body is real
The Life Of Pi (2012) - no, actor Suraj Sharma didn't have to deal with an actual tiger
Godzilla (2014) - the naval armada is a lot less impressive when the magic is taken away
It's hard to recreate ancient Greece for 300: Rise Of An Empire (2014) without computers
It takes skill to survey an invading army when there's no army there
In this scene from Iron Man 3 (2013), CGI provides the actor, set, and location
Take away the CGI and the star of RoboCop (2014) appears to be at someone's garden party

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2 teases new mysteries and characters

The second trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is here and with it brings a whole new bunch of clues and information to unravel.

We get more of a look at Ultron, that amazing Hulkbuster armour and the Avengers being forced apart.

Thor in particular is not happy with Tony Stark (technological advancements are not always good!) and Captain America still looks to be in some serious peril…

The trailer may be a mere one minute 40 seconds, but it packs a heck of a lot of information – so let’s get straight to the analysis.

Ultron

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2
(Picture: Marvel)

James Spader’s magnificently voiced Ultron is back and this time he is threatening to tear us apart from the inside.

And being that he is not restricted to just his metallic shells, but can conceivably infect anything technological, including for instance, your phone, this seems like a pretty valid threat and not one that can be easily defeated.

As the voice over (possibly Hawkeye) says at the start of the trailer, ‘this vulnerable world is going to need something more powerful than any of us.’

Could the answer to this be magic? Because it doesn’t look like a Hulk-punch to his metallic face will do the trick.

Let’s not forget that Ultron was created by Tony Stark as a kind of automated defence system/police force to help our hardworking heroes out and unfortunately, Ultron has become too intelligent to control and has decided that the biggest threat to the world, is actually the humans…

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch

Super twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are Team Ultron and they have powers (particularly the Scarlet Witch) unlike any the Avengers have had to face.

While Quicksilver is super-fast (always useful, especially when you have a lot to do), Scarlet Witch has the ability to see other realms and bend the past and future at her will.

She is also telepathic and can throw pretty awesome red energy orbs (as Iron Man gets to experience in the trailer).

Her magic holds an untapped mystery for Ultron. Her abilities are not something he can replicate with technology and even though she is Team Ultron, I have a feeling she is the key to bringing him down.

How they will make her switch to Team Avengers is anybody’s guess…though I can’t wait to find out!

Ulysses Klaw?

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2 - Andy Serkis
(Picture: Marvel)

We get a good look at Andy Serkis’ unnamed character and I think he looks like the Black Panther’s nemesis Ulysses Klaw (a supervillain physicist who is the psionic embodiment of solid sound which he can wield as a weapon).

If I am right (which I hope I am as it would make a great first introduction), then it would mean that at least some of the Avengers will be setting foot in the Kingdom of Wakanda and that we will get to meet the ruler T’Challa (Black Panther’s real identity) played by Chadwick Boseman.

Mystery woman in the cave?

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2
(Picture: Marvel)

Who is she and what is her significance, because if she is in the trailer, she is bound to be someone integral to the plot?

Could she be an Eternal (a precursor to the Inhumans), an evolutionary off shoot of the human race created by the Celestials who are based on Titan and came to Earth to run a few genetic experiments on the human race?

If so, this would be a good start to opening up the more mystical side of the Marvel universe before the Doctor Strange movie gets here.

It’s Hulkbustin time!

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2: Hulkbuster
(Picture: Marvel)

We get more of a look at the Hulkbuster suit (which is still awesome) and a bit more of Hulk and Stark throwing down.

But this time around we also get a possible reason why Hulk has lost his cool and is tearing the city apart.

Check out his eyes! They are glowing red and resemble the signature of Scarlet Witch’s super-magic.

I am guessing she is most likely the cause of Bruce Banner’s zen shattering into an oblivion of green monster rage.

Black Widow backstory

She may not be getting a solo movie anytime soon, but it does look like we will get to see how Black Widow came to be who she is.

We get a glimpse of a young Natasha being forced down onto a gurney and the situation does not look friendly at all.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released 24 April in the UK and May 1 in the US and we can’t wait!

Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr made one young fan’s day when he presented him with a bionic arm based on his big screen alter-ego.

The actor said it was an ‘absolute privilege’ to deliver the 3D-printed prosthetic to Alex, who he described as ‘the most dapper 7-year-old I’ve ever met’.

Alex, who was born with a partially developed right arm, loves superheroes but managed to stay pretty cool when meeting the real Iron Man.

Channelling Tony Stark, Downey Jr open two silver cases to reveal both the bionic limb and his own Iron Man arm.

The pair both put on their arms, with Alex’s revealed to be vastly superior.

The prosthetic limb was created by Albert Manero, a student who builds and donates low-cost 3D-printed bionic limbs to children around the world.

Manero has teamed up with One Note’s Collective Project, which engages students to create positive change in the world.

Man makes his own Iron Man glove complete with REAL lasers

An Iron Man fan has built his very own glove which features working lasers so you can go around shooting stuff.

In a feat of invention that Tony Stark would be proud of, Patrick Priebe has created a glove with two lasers – a powerful blue one that can etch things in wood and a red one that can pop balloons.

Basically, it’s not a toy.

Priebe, thankfully, is a laser specialist and runs his own website Laser Gadgets.

He makes lasers so it’s safe to say that he knows what he’s doing.

‘I don’t have to explain why I have an Iron Man claw for my hand,’ Priebe says in a demo video as he shows off the glove’s laser skills.

No, you don’t but please let us know how we can order one. Thanks.

Tim Robbins and Sam Rockwell are also rumoured to be in talks to star in the hotly-anticipated sequel.

Don Cheadle has promised that Iron Man fans can look forward to a ‘bigger, badder’ film when the third instalment comes out.

The actor, who plays James Rhodes and his alter ego War Machine, said the action would be on a more spectacular scale in the next film.

He also hinted that his character would get closer with Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark.

Cheadle told Collider: ‘I will just say that the buddy relationship that these guys have gets tighter.

‘The third act set piece for the big finale is bigger and badder. It’s just a lot more.’

The star, who will be next seen on the big screen in Flight, said that the cast had a blast filming the new movie.

He said: ‘It was good. We had a good time. It’s a really good cast. It’s a very interesting script. It was a lot of fun.’

The film, directed by Shane Black, will feature Tony Stark battling supervillain Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley.

Iron Man 3 will be released in cinemas on April 26 in the UK and May 3 in the US.

Iron Man 3 producer Kevin Feige: Tony Stark will be traumatised in new film

Kevin Feige, a producer on Iron Man 3, has revealed that the film’s hero Tony Stark will be suffering from ‘post-traumatic stress’ in the upcoming film.

The third instalment of Marvel’s superhero franchise picks up soon after the events of The Avengers.

In that movie, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) narrowly escapes death in his bid to save the world from Loki and his army.

Feige explained that teaming up with other superheros like The Incredible Hulk and Thor has made Iron Man question how powerful he really is.

He told MTV: ‘It’s almost like post-traumatic stress [disorder].

‘He has retreated after the events of The Avengers into his workshop, where he’s building advanced versions of his suits.

‘He has [designed] a version of the suit that can latch onto him in individual pieces, anytime, anywhere. He starts to realise [that] he doesn’t want to be out of the suit.’

Feige added: ‘He’s seen a lot of things in Avengers and has encountered a lot of powerful people, much more powerful than he is.’

In the new Iron Man film, due out in the UK on April 26, Stark must battle against the villainous Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley.

And it seems that Stark will have to have his wits about him as he won’t be able to rely on his armour.

Feige said: ‘Much of the movie is Tony in the middle of the country without his tools and a fairly broken suit to help him.

‘But that’s his superpower: he wasn’t born on Asgard, he wasn’t hit by gamma rays, and he doesn’t have the super soldier serum. His power is his brain.

‘It’s fun to put Tony Stark in a corner with nothing and see how he can get out of it.’

Iron Man 3 Super Bowl trailer gets online sneak peek as new poster debuts

A new teaser for forthcoming blockbuster Iron Man 3 has been released online ahead of the film’s Super Bowl trailer.

The clip lasts for just 14 seconds and gives away little more about the film, which once again sees Robert Downey Jr reprise the role of Tony Stark – but it does hint at some excitement to come in the full trailer.

Its blink-and-you’ll miss it highlights include brief glimpses of Downey Jr lying in the snow – apparently defeated by some unseen foe – as well as Stark’s home coming under fire.

Gwyneth Paltrow also shows up momentarily as Pepper Potts,. while Don Cheadle also appears briefly in his guise as the Iron Patriot.

The full version of the trailer will be seen during Sunday night’s coverage of the Super Bowl on US TV.

In recent years the adverts shown during the Super Bowl – many of which are filmed specially – have become almost as highly-anticipated as the game itself.

DRAMATIC NEW IRON MAN 3 POSTER
A new poster advertising the film shows Tony Stark plunging dramatically to Earth (Picture: Disney)

Iron Man 3 will be just one of a number of films being trailed during one of the many ad breaks – with previews of The Lone Ranger, The Fast and The Furious 6, Star Trek: Into Darkness and the Tom Cruise sci-fi thriller Oblivion also set to be shown.

The film, which sees screenwriter Shane Black take over the directorial reins from Jon Favreau, is due for cinema release in April.

Downey Jr and Paltrow are joined in the latest sequel by Rebecca Hall as scientist Maya Hansen, and Ben Kingsley as the villainous Mandarin.

A new poster for the film – showing Stark apparently plunging downwards to earth – has also been released to coincide with the new footage.
