Avengers: Endgame trailer and leaked set pictures suggests Pepper Potts may rescue Iron Man

The trailer for Avengers: Endgame finally dropped last week and it opened up even more cans of worms feasting on fan theories.

Opening with Tony Stark, floating in space with no supplies and preparing for his imminent death, and sending a message home to fiancee Pepper Potts it appeared to confirm the rampant idea that Tony will die in the film, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves on to a whole new chapter.

‘Hey, Miss Potts. If you find this recording, don’t feel bad about this,’ Tony says during his recording – but one fan theory posits that this message will actually make its way to Pepper where she will be the one to save Tony.

This theory would explain the leaked set picture that showed Pepper in the Rescue armour.

The picture, posted to account Uncanny Comic Quest, showed actress Gwyneth Paltrow in costume only instead of sporting her usual business attire she’s wearing the leather and armoured Rescue range, as she stands in front of a green screen.

In the comic series, Pepper gets an Iron Man suit of her own known as Rescue, and while her role in Infinity War really didn’t amount to much, this is the biggest hint yet she’s going to get in on the action this time around – and what better action than saving the love of her life?

With half the universe obliterated by Thanos’ snap, we really could do with some more action heroes around now, too.

Pepper may step up to become a new superhero (Picture: Marvel)

With the assumed death of Tony as well as Captain America aka Steve Rogers and potentially others as phase three of the MCU comes to a close, it’s not the craziest idea having Pepper suit up to defeat Thanos in the next battle, after Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige claimed that the majority of superheroes in the MCU would soon be female.

‘As the plan goes forward I think frankly we’ll be, you know, eventually I think we’re going to reach a time where it’s not just, listen, it would be amazing to see all of our female characters the way we have see, most, never all male, but primarily male,’ he told CinemaBlend.

‘I think we’re getting to the point soon where we have so many great female characters that those are just our heroes as opposed to when are they all female, all male. It’s just the Marvel heroes, more than half of which will be women.’

Kevin’s words were backed up by the studio in June when they shared a video package which revealed that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will be the new face and leader of the franchise; ‘Captain Marvel is about to take the lead in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe,’ the video highlighted.

The video mostly consisted of behind the scenes footage of Brie in character, and is meant to ‘introduce people to Carol Danvers’.

The footage is being kept under wraps but Nikita Byrkin of The Flick shared the logo on social media.

Avengers 4 is in cinemas 26 April 2019.

Avengers theory predicts Endgame will be told from Tony Stark’s point of view

Could Tony make the ultimate sacrifice? (Picture: Marvel)

We still have several months to wait until we catch the deal with the next instalment in the Avengers saga, Endgame. However, one punter has suggested the whole thing will be about Tony Stark.

And we’re not mad.

The trailer was released earlier this month and starts with Iron Man floating about in space, with his water and food gone, and oxygen depleting completely the following day.

So it makes sense, perhaps, that the ensuing battle may see Tones back in the forefront and chasing down the Mad Titan Thanos after he snapped half the planet away.

In a well-supported theory on Reddit, one MCU fan has proffered the idea based on the trailer first of all that Endgame will focus on Stark going back in time to obtain the six Infinity Stones that saw Thanos create the gauntlet to wreak havoc.

User u/Asongofparksandrec said that while Infinity War was Thanos’ movie, this one is all about Tony Stark.

‘The trailer of infinity war was from Thanos perspective. The movie itself was from his perspective. The Endgame trailer is from Tonys perspective. So I figure the movie will be from his perspective,’ they said, on the money so far.

‘Over all of the marvel movies, in one way or the other Tonys character was build up. With each movie he matured. Until his maturity reached its peaked with passing on what he achieved to Peter Parker whom he felt responsible for. Tony was basically a father figure to Peter. Yet Tony failed when Peter died. Same like Thanos felt he failed, when his home planet collapsed.

‘I believe that Endgame will in some way mirror infinity war. [sic]’

They continued with the long-held view that the only way to defeat Thanos is to retrieve all the Infinity Stones and with another snap of the fingers, bring everyone back from the dead – or whatever alternate reality they currently find themselves in.

The Redditor added: ‘Only this time it will be Tony who snaps his finger. How would a mortal be able to do this? With the power of him, who is cursed with knowledge. The knowledge of a mechanic.’

If you remember, Thanos said those fateful words to Iron Man in the last movie, saying he was the ‘only one cursed with knowledge.’

The user added that perhaps he’ll do so with the help of Eitri, played by Peter Dinklage, who made Thor’s axe, who may craft a means of wielding the stones for the latest quest.

To add another layer to this already quite heavily-packed theory, they then suggested the OG Avengers, who survived the Snap will help in their own way – six stones, six Avengers. Makes sense, non?

But it will be Tony who brings them together as the theory continued: ‘It was always Tony who should have held the avengers together, but he never truly achieved this. Only when he convinced them to get shawarma, but almost sacrificing himself. [sic]’

They concluded: ‘I think this movie will be about Tony finally [completing] his maturity. He will reverse his mistakes by bringing the dead to life again and might possibly sacrifice himself for real this time or even emerge to a higher level of existence. Or maybe sacrificing yourself is emerging into a higher form of existence. [sic]’

It’s long been suggested Tony will sacrifice himself and end up perishing in this film.

Most recently, a fan has suggested a scene in Avengers: Age Of Ultron foreshadowed the death of both Captain America and Iron Man, which is fairly heartbreaking.

Redditor u/dafsjgf called back the scene which dropped the Endgame title, and speculated that a conversation between Steve Rogers and Tony spelled bad things for the heroes in Endgame.

Tony said: ‘A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. We’re standing 300 feet below it. We’re the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the livelong day but that up there, that’s… That’s the endgame. How were you guys planning on beating that?’

Steve replied: ‘Together’, and when Tony said: ‘We’ll lose’, Cap responded: ‘Then we’ll do that together too.’

Joe Russo has also said Endgame is ‘bringing to a close the first decade of stories’ launched with Iron Man in 2008.

Oh god, there are going to be tears a’plenty in this film. We just know it.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has added fuel to the rampant speculation that Iron Man will be exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Endgame.

Kevin Feige seemingly confirmed the superhero’s fate to fans who have been very concerned about what would happen to him at the end of the Infinity War sequel.

Robert Downey Jr’s character aka Tony Stark was noticeably absent from the trailer of Spider-Man: Far From Home after having a significant part to play in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

So his absence has left many Marvel fans thinking he will die – or be retired – at the end of Endgame which is set to be released before Far From Home.

In a statement (via IANS), Feige said that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will now be the most powerful character in MCU – but wait, isn’t that supposed to be Iron Man?

He said: ‘We thought it was the right time to finally introduce Captain Marvel to the world.

‘She is one of the most popular characters and one of the most powerful characters in the comics and will now be the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.’

Captain Marvel is the MCU’s first stand-alone female franchise, which is set in 1990 and will follow the journey of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel to becoming one the world’s most powerful heroes.

The film stars Oscar-winning Brie Larson as the titular character, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Benin and Jude Law.

Feige said a female superhero was long overdue – and he is right.

He added: ‘We have always had powerful female characters and heroes in our films. But having a female superhero franchise title character for the first time feels overdue, and it’s something that we have been excited about for a long time and we can’t wait to deliver it to the world.’

Will Iron Man die in Avengers: Endgame? The ultimate roundup of fan theories

$

Will one be left standing…or none? (Picture: Marvel and Metro edit)

The Avengers: Endgame trailer is one massive tearjerker as it taunts fans with the possible death of Tony Stark while Iron Man floats in space with his oxygen rapidly running out.

Whether or not the Avenger will bite the bullet remains to be seen, but things aren’t made easier with speculation that he will die. Marvel boss Kevin Feige added fuel to fire after he hinted that Stark’s stand in Endgame might well be his last one.

Iron Man is supposed to be the most powerful character in MCU, but Feige said that mantle belongs to Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.

He said: ‘We thought it was the right time to finally introduce Captain Marvel to the world. ‘She is one of the most popular characters and one of the most powerful characters in the comics and will now be the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.’

With rumours swirling around Avengers: Endgame, which will arrive in cinemas on 25 April, let’s take a look at the most optimistic (and heartbreaking) theories surrounding the fate of our favourite snarky superhero.

Admittedly, there are more theories that Iron Man will die, than those proclaiming he will live…

Tony Stark (and Cap’ America) die, as foreshadowed in Age of Ultron scene

Could Cap and Tony meet their makers in Endgame? (Picture: Rex/Shutterstock)

A Marvel fan has suggested that a scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron actually foreshadows the death of both Captain America and Iron Man. Nooo.

A reddit user speculated that a conversation between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark hints at bad luck for the heroes.

The reddit user has suggested that this is exactly the kind of foreshadowing Marvel is known for, and it could hint their death.

‘These two might die at the end of Avengers: Endgame,’ the Redditor suggested.

Tony Stark dies to reverse the effect of the soul stone and save the world

This might be the standoff everyone is waiting for (Picture: Marvel)

In another Reddit fan theory, it is suggested that Tony Stark and Ant Man will team up and use BARF (Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing) a device he designed, to create a scenario to stop Thanos. They will do this by manipulating his mind and sparking the idea of having him undo the scarifying of Gamora.

They will contact Nebula via Scott’s Time Vortex and the Quantum Tunnel, and they will ‘construct a scenario to make Thanos feel remorse’ about Gamora.

BARF will undo what Thanos has done, Nebula gains control of the soul stone and goes on a rampage, and this will cause Tony and the Cap to make a sacrifice in order to gain control of the stone and save the world.

They die, yet again.

Tony Stark dies/gets trapped in the soul stone, which is why Peter Parker leaves his Spidey suit at home when he travels to Europe on a school trip

Tony and Peter had a special connection (Picture: Marvel Studios)

A fan posits that a scene in the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer hints at the death or loss of Tony Stark in Endgame.

‘Pack your suit,’ Aunt May tells Peter as he readies for a school trip to Europe.

‘I just wanna go on my trip with my friends. Europe doesn’t really need a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man,’ he said, whilst glaring at his suit.

Posting on Reddit’s Fan Theories subreddit, user u/FurysDyre argues that the reason Peter isn’t taking his suit with him is he’s traumatised by the loss of his mentor, who told him to live his life.

The user suggests that Tony might not be fully killed, but is trapped in the Soul Stone, meaning Tony and Peter never really got a chance to say goodbye, further adding to the theory that Spider-Man is so sad he doesn’t want to be a superhero anymore.

Tony Stark and Thanos’ fates are connected thanks to the Mind Stone

Picture: Marvel Chris Hemsworth tells Thanos to piss off in Marvel reunion?
Will the Infinity Gauntley be destroyed? (Picture: Marvel)

A particularly clever fan theory over on Reddit suggests Thanos and Tony Stark are connected by their interaction with the mind stone – which is actually at the root of all problems.

They wrote: ‘We know that in response to Tony asking “how do you know my name?” Thanos replies “I know your soul…it is much like mine, cursed with knowledge”. Great line, but I don’t think Thanos and Tony are necessarily “cursed with knowledge” per se; rather, I think that they are both suffering from some intense PTSD inflicted by the mind stone.’

The fan goes on to suggest that there is a connection between Tony and Thanos, and how that will manifest remains to be seen – but it can’t be good.

The mind stone showed Tony a vision of dead avengers and an alien invasion (which led to Ultron) and it stands to reason that the stone probably showed Thanos a similar vision of his home planet being destroyed (which led to him embarking on the whole Infinity-Gauntlet-snap-half-the-universe-out-of-existence-journey).

The fan added: ‘Both Tony and Thanos would become self-fulfilling prophesies of their worst fears – Tony’s obsession with protection of Earth could have very easily resulted in the total extinction of the human race; Thanos obsession with ensuring that what happened (or what he saw happen) on Titan would never happen again, ultimately led him to murder trillions during the snappening.

‘Both would, through their actions or creations, become the personification of the mind stone (according to Thor, at least): a whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life. Where the mind stone goes, death and destruction follow.’

Sounds ominous.

Tony Stark will be saved by his wifey-to-be, Pepper Potts

Pepper Potts needs to make her superhero debut – will Endgame be it? (Picture: Marvel)

An optimistic fan theory suggests Tony will be saved by Pepper Potts. The opening of the trailer sees Iron Man floating in space with no supplies and on the brink of death. He sends a message to his fiancée Pepper Potts, starting, ‘Hey, Miss Potts. If you find this recording, don’t feel bad about this.’ ‘This’ being dying in space.

However, one fan theory states that the message will make its way to Earth, where Pepper will receive it and save him.

This would explain a leaked set picture which showed Pepper in rescue armour.

Tony Stark survives because Marvel set it up as the most fitting conclusion to his story

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts
Pepper and Tony are believed to go on to have a child so please can this be the ending (Picture: Marvel)

Marvel is good at two things: Misdirection and giving characters poetic arcs. We see this time and again in their motivations, in how they face challenges, and their conclusions. Think Loki, Odin, Nebula…their endings were poetic and held an air of justice. Their end was fitting.

A fan theory suggests that killing Tony Stark would contradict Marvel’s propensity for giving characters fitting conclusions.

Lots of theories suggests Tony will meet his end by sacrifice – except he’s already tried that in both The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Reddit user StrikeFirst wrote: ‘Everything that has happened to Tony after A1 has been based around the idea of him knowing something big was coming to earth and him having anxiety about it. If he were to die or sacrifice himself again I don’t think it’s a good character ending for him since he has been battling Thanos in his head for 6 years (He mentions this on Maw’s ship).

‘Having him win (not die) and finally overcome what he has been battling with since A1 and then retire would and should be the proper ending to the character. All he ever wanted was to end the fight so he can go home.’

We like this theory. More of this theory please.

Avengers theory suggests Endgame plot is in Infinity War trailer as MCU drops new teaser

$

One Avengers fan has come up with the theory that perhaps we know what’s going to happen in Endgame – because it was all laid out in Infinity War.

According to one keen Redditor who has a lot of time on their hands, it’s been suggested the next instalment in the MCU has already been described way back when the trailer for Infinity War was released back in 2017.

Big call! And to think this comes hot on the heels of the latest trailer drop from Marvel, eh?

Anyway, supposedly by rewatching the Infinity War trailer, we’re given a ‘whole new perspective’ on what’s going down in the April release, as ‘everything that occurs in the first minute of the trailer remains the same between both movies’.

Hmm we’re listening – please continue Reddit user u/BigMartin58.

Avengers Infinity war trailer
So Hulk was in the trailer, but not in the movie. Right? (Picture: Marvel)

‘The first change that occurs is Tony Stark at exactly 1 minute in. In Infinity War, his suit was being put on, but in the trailer, he is wearing regular clothes. Perhaps, in End Game, he decides not to fight in this scene,’ they proferred at the beginning of their hypotheses.

‘The second change occurs at a minute and 20 seconds, during the scene with Cap. In Infinity War, he was much more visible. He was more in the light, but in the trailer, he is more hidden. Hiding in the darkness.’

Side note: this perhaps links in with the idea there are ‘two Caps’ in the trailers, don’t you think? You know, should your thinking be that way inclined.

But old mate Reddit wasn’t done, as they continued: ‘Perhaps, in End Game, he decides to stay hidden longer, instead of fighting right away, until he is found, but the difference could be all it takes.’

With the proposed third change, it turns to Thanos ‘who put the blue Space Stone in the infinity gauntlet’. You see, in Infinity War, he already had the power stone, then attained the space stone and this fan believes perhaps the avengers will prevent the Mad Titan ‘from attaining the power Stone, prior to the events of Infinity War’ in Endgame.

And the trailer has said so.

With missing stones in the trailer, the viewer believes the whole time travel theory thing means he won’t attain all the gems he needed to initially Snap away half the population. Then, finally, Hulk comes into play as in the trailer he’s running with the crew – but not in the movie. Are these altered scenes what we’ll see in Endgame?

Like, what does this all mean, Basil?

It caused quite a stir in the comments section, as you can imagine, as punters shared their two bob on the spicy theory.

‘Oh, Tony will fight in that scene in Endgame, but they can’t show him at all, because he will be wearing the Stark Gauntlet suit, which is why he had to survive,’ one enthusiastic fan suggested, as they launched into some other theories. ‘Antman is the one who will discover time travel through the Quantum Realm, and Future Tony will go time traveling to collect the stones, but so will Cap…’

Another was a little more cynical as they added: ‘So it sounds like we will be rewatching infinity war with an alternate ending.’

Many were fans of the theory, as they figured the sequel would be similar.

‘Watching it back is chilling. It almost narrates what happened!’, a Marvel aficionado said excitedly, as others supported the ‘cool’ notion.

With a fresh trailer dropping during tonight’s Super Bowl, we might get more of an idea of WTF is going down in Avengers town tonight after a good night’s rest.

Robert seemed really into it – even more than the kids – as he sat on the floor, crossed-legged like a primary school kid, taking pictures on his phone.

We are happy he is enjoying some downtime with his favourite fictional characters …  but we all really have just one question for him – and it has nothing to do with those bright trousers.

Does Iron Man die in the next Avengers film? Seriously, we just need someone to tell us it is not so.

His trip comes not long after Marvel boss Kevin Feige added fuel to the rampant speculation that Iron Man will be exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the next movie.

Gwyneth Paltrow is hanging up her boots when it comes to Marvel and that means we may no longer see her as Pepper Potts.

The 46-year-old has played Potts, Tony Stark’s long-time love, in all the Iron Man and Avengers movies since 2008, but it sounds like this time could be her last.

Pepper is set to return in Avengers: Endgame, but Gwyneth has hinted it could be her final appearance in the Marvel universe, as she thinks she’s now ‘too old’ to be channelling her inner superhero.

She told Variety: ‘I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point.

‘I feel very lucky that I did [Iron Man], because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau [Iron Man’s director].

‘It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to the fans.’

Fans saw Pepper gain some form of powers at the end of Iron Man 3, after being infected with the Extremis virus, and she displayed her new abilities when she swooped in to save Stark.

Set to go out with a bang, Gwyneth teased that Pepper may get her very own Iron Man inspired suit in the final Avengers installment, as she teased behind-the-scene snaps of her in a motion-capture suit while shooting for Avengers: Endgame back in 2017.

Now that, we would love to see.

In the same interview with Variety, Gwyneth also discussed her ‘terrible break up’ from Brad Pitt back in the 90s and how it almost cost her her role in 1998 movie Shakespeare In Love.

She explained how she couldn’t contemplate working on something new while dealing with the split, but eventually decided to take it on after reading the script.

Gwyneth is now married to Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk. They tied the knot at her Hamptons home in September last year after announcing their engagement in November 2017.

Paltrow was previously married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who she shares two children Apple, 14, and Moses,12, with.

They famously ‘consciously uncoupled’ in 2016 after over a decade of marriage.

Die-hard Marvel fan urges newbies to ‘ignore Natalie Portman’ as she offers invaluable advice

A Marvel fan’s advice about watching the seemingly never-ending superhero flicks has gone viral, after she offered such gems as ‘ignore Natalie Portman’ and, in regards to Doctor Strange, ‘if House was a wizard.’

It’s pretty accurate.

When writer Victoria Aveyard’s roommate asked for some guidance on starting out in the MCU, she got more than she bargained for with the ‘MCU Master list’.

The monster list includes a suggested order to watch the movies in, as well as a helpful line of advice for each one.

For instance, Iron Man is accompanied by the explanation: ‘The grandaddy of them all,’ while things went quickly downhill for Iron Man 2, with Victoria simply branding it ‘trash.’

Ouch.

‘Ignore Natalie Portman, x2 attention to Tom Hiddleston,’ was the advice alongside Thor, with Thor: The Dark World inspiring some similar thoughts: ‘Ignore Natalie part 2, silly.’

Black Panther was summed up by: ‘Oh lawd he coming,’ and Doctor Strange was described as: ‘If House was a wizard.’

Captain Marvel meets Thor
The recent trailer left more questions than answers (Picture: Marvel)

All in all, it seems like the only advice new Marvel fans would ever need.

Meanwhile, die-hards have been majorly speculating about the events of Avengers: Endgame, especially after the release of Captain Marvel and a trailer that seemed to prompt more questions than answers.

Some have argued that some unearthed photos from set prove the time travel theory, with Robert Downey Jr clad in Iron Man’s original suit.

In another picture, Thor is seen with long hair and two eyes – something he did not have the last we saw him in Infinity War. The god of thunder has had a bit of journey after his hair was cut off and he lost an eye in Thor: Ragnarok.

Tony Stark aka Iron Man was also seen without his fancy suit … on earth?

In case you missed it, Tony was stuck in space with Nebula and rapidly running out of oxygen the last time we saw him.

The plot thickens.

Captain America’s beard divides Avengers: Endgame cast and it’s like Civil War all over again

Take your pick (Picture: Marvel/REX)

Captain America’s beard has long been a talking point among Marvel fans, but now it’s actually divided the Avengers and it’s like Civil War all over again.

It’s a law unto itself.

The hotly debated question was asked at the Avengers: Endgame conference (which broke our hearts within the first minute with them leaving empty chairs for the ‘fallen’ heroes) and the cast were forced to vote on whether they prefer bearded or non-bearded Cap.

When Happy Hogan actor Jon Favreau floated ‘bearded Cap,’ it was clear there was a winner with the majority of the stars (plus a highly relatable woman in the audience) raising their hands.

Karen Gillan and Danai Gurira were among the stars to prefer clean-shaven Cap, but they were few and far between, although we spotted a cheeky Paul Rudd voting for both.

In a brutal turn of events, Robert Downey Jr didn’t raise his hand for either. We see you, Robert.

Bearded or clean-shaven, Cap is set to make a return in the upcoming flick, which will be the conclusion to 22 films, now known as the ‘Infinity Saga’.

However, the cast have kept impressively tight-lipped about the film – even Mark Ruffalo, who’s known to be the king of spoilers after accidentally giving away the end of Infinity War 10 months before its release and live streaming the first 10 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok.

However, the Iron Man actor teased in a new Marvel featurette: ‘I guarantee you there is no way anybody could guess what’s gonna happen.’

The beard made an appearance (Picture: Getty Images for Disney)

But have you seen all of the theories, Robert?

Chris Evans added: ‘Every time you think Marvel’s pulled every single trick out of the bag, they actually saved the best stuff for this one.’

Meanwhile, the Russo brothers have revealed the lengths they’ve gone to to ensure no spoilers get out – and they heavily involve Tom Holland.

The Spiderman star is banned from knowing, well pretty much anything, with Joe Russo confessing he doesn’t even get the script.

‘Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script,’ the director said. ‘Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of.’

We can’t even blame him.

Old school Tony Stark and Captain America make return as Avengers Endgame takes trip down memory lane

$

As we approach the final week where we don’t have Endgame in our lives, the latest trailer from the Avengers movie has landed.

And it’s a nostalgic walk down memory lane that really kicks us in the guts.

Oh yes, we have all the feels.

In the teaser that dropped on Tuesday we see old school Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) work their early Marvel Cinematic Universe magic, as the clip takes us back through the past.

Remember, we’re talking over 20 films and a decade of story here which culminates in Endgame.

Our bodies are ready.

The clip starts with Robert’s Iron Man which kicked off the MCU in 2008, before moving onto Captain America, Thor, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy.

We say hello once again to early Iron Man (Picture: Rex Features)

It’s a trip.

It’s not in chronological order though, as Infinity War’s Snap from Thanos ushers in the monumental moment the avengers suit up for the last fight.

With the rising music and the looks of determination on their faces, it’s almost like someone is chopping onions in here.

Especially when we hear Cap say: ‘Before we’re done, we still have one promise to keep.’

The wait is nearly over as directors Joe and Anthony Russo last night pleaded with fans to protect the story.

Thanking fans for investing ‘your time, your hearts and your souls into these stories’, they asked one last favour from the loyal and passionate followers.

They wrote: ‘When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you.

‘Remember, Thanos still demands your silence. As always, good luck and happy viewing…’

They ended the message with the hashtag #DontSpoilTheEndgame.

Robert Downey Jr looked every bit Tony Stark at the Avengers: Endgame premiere as he stopped to help his wife out of the car as the pair arrived.

After 10 years playing the character, he’s got it down to a tee.

The Iron Man star rocked up at the Los Angeles premiere with his wife Susan Downey in the poshest of cars as he blew a kiss to the camera.

Walking round the car, he looked at right home as he waved to the masses of fans and gave Susan a hand out the car before they posed up a storm.

Tony would be proud.

‘The Mrs and I arriving in style to the @avengers #premiere,’ the 54-year-old captioned the video.

‘Boss,’ Robin Hood actor Jamie Foxx commented.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwl2WcDAZu7/

Meanwhile, fans were quick to point out the similarity between Robert and his multi-millionaire character, with one writing: ‘He is tony stark.’

‘Should’ve flown in in an iron man suit,’ another advised.

One more follower was reminded of Stan Lee’s cameo in the first Iron Man movie, which saw Robert patting the Marvel creator on the back as he exited a car, while being snapped by photographers.

The Russo Brothers, who directed the upcoming film, recently revealed that the actor is the only Avenger to have been given the full script for Endgame and to know all the secrets.

It’s a wonder he looks so calm.

Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Joe Russo said: ‘RDJ was probably the only one to actually read the entire script. I think Benedict [Cumberbatch] got the script that included his scenes only. Maybe [Chris] Evans might have read the script.’

Anthony added: ‘Part of our motivation to do that is it just takes a lot of pressure off of people. It is hard to constantly censor yourself about what you’re saying, how you talk.

‘These movies are your whole life, it’s everything you’re doing all day long. The inclination is to talk about it. So we take a lot of pressure off of people by just saying, OK, the less you know the less you have to mind yourself.’

With the closest thing to a spoiler being him declaring the last minutes of the dramatic conclusion to the Infinity Saga are the best in the entire history of the MCU, he’s clearly got the secrets locked away.

Can you enjoy Avengers: Endgame if you haven’t seen any Marvel films?

Chris Hemsworth as Thor in Avengers: Endgame
Thor hasn’t seen all of the MCU, but he’s still excited for Endgame (Picture: Marvel)

Endgame is officially in cinemas, after it felt like a 23-year wait. And as we’ve said here, it does not disappoint.

It’s been a year since we last caught up with our mighty Avengers and for those who have followed the franchise since 2008’s Iron Man you’ve waited for your final serving of greatness.

It’s fair to say there has been a lot of hype about the film that wraps up the Infinity Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after the release of its predecessor Infinity War last year.

Fans have been waiting with bated breath to see what comes of our favourite heroes, so much so even those who’ve never seen a MCU film before are wondering what the whole palaver is about.

But is that to say if you’re new to the MCU you’re shut out forever?

Look, Endgame is going to be tricky to watch if you’re not up to speed with the previous 21 movies, but long story short you’re still going to enjoy it.

Some cinemas screened the prior 21 films in the universe back-to-back for those needing a refresher, but for those of you who don’t have days, weeks, months to spare catching up on the backstory, is Endgame a waste?

Definitely not.

On the face of it, the film is a delightfully brilliant exploration of each character and their story arcs.

You’ll take amazing enjoyment in seeing where their story culminates in the battle against Thanos and the quest to get everyone back post-Snap because the beauty of this universe is you’re always going to root for the Avengers. That’s just how it goes.

The music swells are enough to know a pivotal scene is such, and the way scriptwriters have managed to include Infinity War’s backstory without actually retelling the tale is a welcome help for all who aren’t aware.

Keeping that in mind, there are going to be moments where your fellow cinema goers are going to laugh at scenes you didn’t find funny.

Is there a joke there? There is if you’ve watched The Incredible Hulk, or Avengers: Civil War.

Just lean into your mate who’s seen the lot and ask for a rundown later. Giggle and move on. Luckily, we can safely say there is no glaring plotline you’re going to miss if you’re coming into this fresh.

You are watching this on the surface level, though. Scratching away at the top soil. This is no film where you’ll be able to dive into the psyche of Black Widow, or know the true meaning behind what Captain America left behind in the 40s.

So while a little read of Infinity War’s synopsis wouldn’t go astray, you don’t need to bulk buy the back catalog.

If you’re in the market for Easter egg scouting, though, move along kid – there is an abundance of references to the past 21 films and you’re going to miss them all if this is your first rodeo.

Scouting social media in the wake of release, it’s clear some of the most seasoned of viewers have a lot of questions about reappearing characters – so the virgins are well and truly done for.

If you really want to be in the loop, give Captain America a once over and perhaps The Avengers 2012’s OG epic. Luckily if you’re not keen to go in blind we put together a list of the films to see.

But know that you’ll still love the thing even if you’ve not seen a minute. Trust us. We know.

Avengers: Endgame is raking in the rewards and breaking records; it’s already broken a number of records, including making $1.2billion (£0.79billion) at the international box office, making it the biggest global opening in film history and the first film ever to surpass the one billion mark in its debut.

Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora in the Marvel film, decided to celebrate the film’s success with an epic throwback photo she took with Chris Evans back in 2010.

The 40-year-old actress took to Instagram and posted a cute photo of them messing around while shooting The Losers. It was a world away from Avengers, and she reflected on how far they’ve come.

She captioned it: ‘Flashback to Chris Evans and I goofing around while shooting The Losers years ago. Time flies and if anyone would’ve told us then about The Marvel Universe, we would’ve laughed and brushed it off.

‘We were already grateful to be working and doing what we loved by telling stories. Love you Chris! #thelosersmovie – #winning this weekend! #captainamerica #gamora #dancing #puertorico #chrisevans.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwzauQ0h-Ub/

Fellow actor Columbus Short claimed he took the photo, and he told Saldana: ‘To be real Sis I believe I took this picture. And I remember distinctly laughing harder than I probably ever had. Some of my fondest memories was with you guys. I was so proud watching #EndGame last night. Literally tears watching you guys SHINE!’

The movie, produced by Marvel rival DC Comics and Warner Bros, follows a team of elite mercenaries (of which Chris is, of course, a member) as they join forces in the Bolivian jungle to go after the CIA that double-crossed them and left them for dead.

Action follows Zoe and Chris wherever they go, as nine years later they’ve crossed over to Marvel to play tortured and principled (respectively) heroes.

Cap, oh Cap. It was emosh (Picture: Marvel)

Fans of Avengers are here for the fond memories. One wrote: ‘I remember watching the losers after you became gamora and evans became steve rogers and i thought “hey, gamora and steve have actually crossed paths!” and its actually a beautiful thing bc the marvel universe is soooo big and it keeps expanding and collecting the most talented actors and you two are one of them. thank you to both of you. love you lots [sic]’

‘I never knew I needed this photo until now,’ another fan wrote. ‘This is special,’ said one.

And an Instagram account called Avengers Therapy offered the following: ‘Anyone want to be added to a group chat where we cry about endgame?’

Fans aren’t the only ones to engage with all the Endgame emotions. Chris Evans recently tweeted in what we can only assume was tearfully: ‘Some of these #ThankYouAvengers posts are incredibly touching. I’m feeling a deep sense of gratitude today’.

Same.

Many Marvel fans have been busy watching Avengers: Endgame after it was released last week, but many of us went to the cinema with concerns for some of our favourite heroes.

The end of Infinity War saw many of them disappear completely after Thanos snapped his fingers while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet.

It meant that superheroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther and Scarlet Witch all crumbled to dust in the final moments of the film as half of the world was wiped out.

The remaining heroes like Iron Man and Captain America were left to try and reverse the effects of the Infinity Gauntlet and rescue their friends.

Many fans have been left wondering if the end of phase three means the end for some of their favourite Marvel stars, so is this the last Avengers films for actors like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans?

Is Endgame the last Marvel movie for Robert Downey Jr?

Many fans expected this to be the final outing for the Tony Stark characters, but not many were prepared for the roller-coaster of emotions that it would entail.

He ended up sacrificing himself to save the world by wearing the Infinity Gauntlet and snapping his fingers to destroy Thanos and his army.

After the battle at Avengers HQ and the destruction of Thanos, Stark gave a final farewell to Pepper and died.

His death means that he is unlikely to appear in any future Marvel movies, unless the Avengers are somehow able to bring him back to life.

Speculation of RDJ leaving the franchise has been around for several years and the actor has hinted on several occasions that Iron Man’s time could be almost over.

Is Endgame the last Marvel movie for Chris Evans?

After Captain America goes back in time to replace the Infinity Stones, he decides to go past his time stamp and fulfil his dreams by living his life with Peggy Carter.

Fans see him re-emerge as an old man who then hands his shield to Falcon.

Chris Evans hinted that this could be his final appearance in an interview two years ago when he said his contract was up after the fourth Avengers film.

This means that it is unlikely that Chris Evans will return to the role any time soon.

Is Chris Hemsworth going to still play Thor?

Chris Hemsworth has said that he won’t rule out making more Thor movies.

Speaking during an interview with Variety‘s and iHeartMedia’s new film podcast The Big Ticket he said that ‘there will come a day’ soon when he does hang up the hammer.

‘Whether it’s now or in the future, I don’t know. … Who knows what the sort of future holds,’ he said.

Are the Guardians of the Galaxy cast returning?

It was announced in March that the popular movie franchise would return for a third movie after James Gunn was brought back to work on the project.

This means that the cast are likely to be returning at some stage in the next couple of years although a release date for the new movie has been announced yet.

Is Scarlett Johansson back for a Black Widow movie?

Black Widow was one of the first Avengers to be killed off in Endgame after sacrificing herself to retrieve the Soul Stone.

Despite her death, the character is set to return in a spin-off prequel movie.

The release date and main details about the film remain unknown, but it seems like there will be at least one more film featuring the superhero.

Is Tom Hiddlestone returning as Loki?

Loki was initially killed in Infinity War and the character failed to return in Endgame, which left many question marks over his future.

A new Loki miniseries was confirmed for the new Disney Plus streaming service, which launches later this year.

Current details on the new show are minimal, but it’s possible that the series could look into the characters past or even see what happens to him after his death at the hands of Thanos.

Avengers’ Robert Downey Jr will pocket ‘at least $75million’ from Endgame as it earns billions

RDJ is making the big bucks (Picture: Rex Features)

While there has been no doubt Robert Downey Jr is making bank with the latest spin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame, his reported income is slightly breathtaking.

It’s been claimed the man who plays Tony Stark AKA Iron Man will pocket quite the whopping $75million (£57million) from Endgame.

And that’s at the very least.

We don’t like to get all dramatic, but you have to admit it is most definitely a whopping figure.

It all comes down to the backend pay deal the actor reportedly signed on to, and with the flick raking in billions at the box office (yes, that’s right, billions, not millions) his salary will explode with the, er, snap of a finger.

You see, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the fella took home $75million for last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, after box office takings were taken into account.

Seeing as Endgame has already well surpassed Infinity War’s opening targets, that 75 mill is set to increase if he’s got the same deal in place.

Last year’s flick earned over $2billion (£1.5billion) when it concluded its cinema run, however Endgame closed its opening weekend already with $1.2billion (£918million) in the bank.

Unless everyone who is going to see the movie in the cinema has already seen it (and is sick of it) that figure is going to keep on hiking for weeks to come.

Hello pay day, RDJ.

How does that stack up against his Hollywood co-stars? Well, quite frankly, he blows them out of the water.

Endgame stars with producer Kevin Feige, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo
The Avengers are taking home a lot of money for Endgame and spinoffs (Picture: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images)

In a recent report, it was claimed Ryan Reynolds has been offered an astonishing $27 million (around £20.7 million) for his role in upcoming Netflix movie Six Underground, directed by Transformers filmmaker Michael Bay.

While The Rock, who goes by Dwayne Johnson now he’s a serious actor, will receive a total of $20 million (£15.3 million) for his work on the upcoming Fast and Furious film, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.

The same reported claimed Robert is taking home $20 million (£15.3 million) for the main part in The Voyage Of Dr Dolittle.

We mean, it’s not the first time Rob has benefited from the hefty paypackets and deep pockets of Marvel – it’s been alleged he took home $5million (£3.8million) a day, for a three-day shoot for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

A day.

Guy knows what he’s worth we suppose. To be fair, he is the face of the whole thing after 2008’s Iron Man kicked off the MCU and launched the whole dang franchise into our lives and hearts.

Repping it for the women, though, Scarlett Johansson is taking home the bacon following her turn as Black Widow.

While her Endgame salary isn’t all that clear (as a major player in the Avengers, it’s not going to be anything measly, we can guarantee that) it’s been reported her pay for the upcoming Natasha Romanoff spin off will earn her $20 million (£15million).

That 20 is also the reported figure both Chris Hemsworth and Evans took home for their roles as Thor and Captain America respectively in Endgame.

There is a lot of money floating about that MCU, we have to say.

Avengers’ Robert Downey Jr has left Marvel fans inconsolable once again as he celebrated Iron Man’s 11th birthday.

‘#Happy 11th #Birthday to the 1st #IronMan film, released on this day in 2008… #TeamStark #thankyou,’ the star captioned it.

‘EPIC,’ one fan replied, while another added: ‘Nobody can do iron man like you can!!’

True words.

With the first Iron Man movie being the one to kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008, it’s an emotional time.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old has been sharing the love for his co-stars as his time in the MCU comes to an end, posting a throwback to a lunch he threw for the ladies of the MCU.

Robert shared a picture of himself taking a photo of Zoe Saldana, Brie Larson, Pom Klementieff, Gwyneth Paltrow, Letitia Wright, Karen Gillan, Elizabeth Olsen, Danai Gurira and Evangeline Lilly, who were gathered around a table in a tent.

With the spoiler ban being lifted on 6 May, according to directors Joe and Anthony Russo, it’s not long until fans can spill all about the dramatic events of the conclusion to the Infinity Saga – and Tony Stark’s huge role in it.

Joe said: ‘There has to be some point. Part of why we make these movies is for conversation. I think it’s Monday.

‘Give it two weekends, not everybody can get there the first weekend. But I think if you haven’t seen it yet, you should go see it, because by Monday, people are gonna be talking about it.’

The Clint Barton actor shared a clip of him getting the sides of his head shaved, and the character’s tattoos being painstakingly painted on.

Meanwhile, on his Instagram Stories, the 48-year-old shared a snap of Clint’s unmistakable shadow, complete with his bow and arrow.

Josh Brolin proved even Thanos got in on the action, sharing a sweet clip of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy squad, including Chris cubed (Evans, Hemsworth and Pratt), Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, Danai Gurira, Tom Holland, Pom Klementieff, and Sean Gunn, singing a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday for his 50th.

‘I was never able to post this before, for obvious reasons,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘But behind all the hate, all the misunderstandings, all the bruises, bumps, and ashes, there was this on my 50th birthday. So deep deep down, even from these guys and gals, everyone has a little purple love in them.’

We love them 3000.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Robert is set to pocket at least $75 million (£57 million) from the movie as it rakes in billions at the box office.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fella took home $75 million for last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, after box office takings were taken into account.

Seeing as Endgame has already well surpassed Infinity War’s opening targets, that 75 mill is set to increase if he’s got the same deal in place. Last year’s flick earned over $2 billion (£1.5 billion) when it concluded its cinema run, however Endgame closed its opening weekend already with $1.2 billion (£918 million) in the bank.

Not too shabby.

A devastated Marvel fan has launched a petition to change the fate of Robert Downey Jr’s beloved character, Iron Man, following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

** WARNING: SPOILERS **

Marvel fans are mourning the loss of Iron Man aka Tony Stark who saved his fellow Avengers after Thanos’ deadly snap using the Infinity Stones, but sacrificing his own life in the process.

It was a sad but fitting – and for some, expected – end to the character that started the ever-expansive MCU back in 2000, but one Marvel fan in particular has called for his reinstatement.

A Change.org petition has reached more than 35,500 signatures and fans are hoping the character will be reinstated to the MCU.

Meline Loiseau, who started the campaign, writes: ‘MCU’s Tony deserves to come back fully alive. Tony Stark was always ready to risk his life, suffer, and sacrifice himself for anyone, without ever receiving anything in return.

‘Since the beginning, since he was a kid. He can never be happy, and when he finally got what he always wanted, and deserved, his wife, his daughter, his family… he died.’

Loiseau continued: ‘He didn’t deserve this and it’s not fair, after everything he’s been through, and done for everyone, he deserves to live and see his daughter grow up.

‘We love him so much. We love him 3000.’

The petition aims to reach 50,000 signatures and it seems to be nearing ever closer to the goal post.

But while Iron Man’s fate may be signed, sealed and delivered, another Avenger almost had an entirely different ending.

Anthony Russo recently revealed that Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, was actually going to run an orphanage looking after the children of those superheroes who perished in Thanos’ imploding snap.

However, producers had a change of heart and the alternate ending was scrapped.

Have you recovered from Avengers: Endgame yet?

Whether or not, there is many a theory that has popped up following the April release that we need to digest – for each and every one may offer up a new idea as to what we witnessed in the Russo brothers film.

It’s been several weeks since it hit cinemas, so we can only assume if you’ve made it this far in the article you know what happens? If not, you best look away now.

As the Avengers attempted to defeat Thanos once and for all, after he dusted half the population in the precursor to Endgame, Infinity War, we lost some mates along the way.

The one that hurts the most still is Tony Stark, after he wielded his gauntlet with the Infinity Stones and dusted Thanos, the power of which killed him.

That was after The Hulk wore the bejewelled glove and made the snap that brought everyone back at Avengers HQ.

Endgame theory suggests it sets up a secret invasion movie

We knew the whole time the gauntlet was going to eff things up for whoever wore it, the Avengers knew themselves, but why?

Why would Thanos use his gauntlet just fine but the Stark version ended its user? Even though said user was flippin’ Iron Man? One fan on Reddit has come up with a keen idea, which involves where the metal making up the item came from.

‘In Infinity War, Thanos has the gauntlet made in Nidavellir. When he does the Snap, the Gauntlet was damaged for some reason,’ the theory began.

‘He didn’t struggle a lot as compared to wielding the Stark Gauntlet with all Infinity Stones in Endgame. But the Stark Gauntlet doesn’t get damaged even though Hulk snapped using it.’

The user, u/rgtxd26, believes Thanos’ space-made metals are stronger in order to take some of the hit of the Snap and we’re picking up what they’re putting down.

‘I think the Nidavellir-made Gauntlet which is a strong metal absorbed some of the powers of the Stones resulting in the damage of the Gauntlet when the Snap occurred,’ they continued. ‘But the Stark gauntlet which is made of Earth metals cannot hold the power of Stones so the power […] directly affects the user and Hulk damaged his arm.

‘In this way, making a vibranium gauntlet would be more efficient and the damage done to the user would have been less.’

So, if we could just get Captain America to somehow work his magic and make his way into the main timeline of events, go back in time and make sure when big Tones is putting together his fresh gauntlet he ruddy uses vibranium.

We just can’t lose him.

Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas now.
